While BACM’s primary efforts are oriented toward
assisting needy households in the community, we also
believe that our ministry is based in a community.
The community is an integral part of BACM’s
services, operations and support.
Many of the problems our clients experience are also
community-based.
Lack of jobs, poor quality housing, limited
transportation, low levels of education are all
problems that may originate in the community, and
require community-level solutions.
Poverty, its causes and its solutions are often
misunderstood.
A complicated web of services, eligibilities,
and limitations govern the lives of the poor, and
put boundaries and burdens on services for them.
We believe that greater understanding of the
dynamics of poverty will build a more compassionate
and well-informed community, better able to develop
creative responses.
BACM provides several vehicles for public
education:
A weekly Barberton Herald About You
column
shares with a variety
of information about clients, services,
opportunities and trends.
Six times per year BACM distributes a free
newsletter, mailed to your home or available on
this website.
This newsletter outlines current BACM news,
upcoming events and programs, and issues
related to our community.
Both the Barberton Herald articles and the newsletter can be
accessed
on our
NEWS page of this website.
BACM is also ready and able to share its knowledge
of the community and its experience of assisting
thousands of households each
year. We
will be happy to
speak to your club, group, church or
event.
Please
Contact Us to make arrangements.
BACM also conducts training workshops for other food
pantries, financial assistance programs and services
focused on voluntary and direct aid to the poor.
We can help you design screening or
application forms, develop systems to operate an
efficient pantry, understand the rules of government
eligibility, confidentiality, and related matters.
BACM can also answer your personal question about
services that might affect you or your family.
See
Services Coordination.
These services are all free of charge in
the 44203 zip code area.
